Are you Friends with a Purpose?

A great question right? Time for some thoughtful thinking…lol

I believe in this season or phrase you find yourself in, it is easy to focus on other things rather than what brings you together, and I am not talking about liking the same songs, prayer and reading of the Bible because to be honest, all Christian men should have those foundations in place. The reality of saying yes or wanting to say yes is knowing that beyond all the speaking in tongues/none there is a purpose of your friendship. To be honest a ladies weakness lies in her kindness but the man for you doesn’t only fall for that but sees and tastes God’s plan in your life, as you share it.

So you may be engaged reading this post and think yes we are friends with purpose, great ! still learn more about how you serve each others vision and dreams now and in the future. Let’s look at a biblical example of a couple who were friends with a purpose first before marriage and let the Holy Spirit minister to you.

Let’s look at a biblical example of a couple who were friends with a purpose first before marriage and let the Holy Spirit minister to you.

Jacob & Rachel

“..Rachel came with her father’s sheep, for she was a shepherdess. 10 And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother’s brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother’s brother, that Jacob went near and rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother’s brother” – GENESIS 20:9

Though they were family, we understand that they were to be married later.A friendship blossomed from helping each other. Jacob rolled the stone that will water Rachel’s sheep and Rachel lead Jacob to his mother’s family. They were friends with a purpose first!

What can we learn from Rachel’s life?

She was a shepherdess, wow, I believe one of the first mentioned in the Bible. She was found tendering her father’s sheep, like David.  So we understand she knew how to fight the enemy off her possessions.  The main thing is you must be doing what your Father in Heaven called you to do, be a warrior princess. There is an ability in you that is to help his purpose, he didn’t meet you for no reason lady! So find out where the purpose of your friendship lies and build on it.

Jacob was in need of Rachel’s help without him knowing it. Your friend needs your help. He is not only your fiance or potential fiance, he is your friend. God has placed the solution in you that will help him now and in the future. Remember the word ‘Helpmate’? this is also how you identify where you can help his purpose and vision too.

Are you helping him reach his vision/purpose?

What we learn from Jacob?

He needed water and there was a structure in place to access the water, yet, all was to be answered when Rachel arrived with the sheep. He helped her roll the stone, he really intervened for her, he wanted her to notice him by going the extra mile. Your fiance is to have the nature of going the extra mile for you. Ensure he waters your purpose and vision, or offers solutions that will water it. He is a friend ready to help you!

In every man, there is a place only the woman purposed for him, can water him. Lead him to Christ who is the well and living water. No matter what makes your friendship, help him drink from the well of life, Jesus, to empower his vision and dreams.

What has God put in your hand that needs maintaining?  How is your friend helping you to water it?

Much Love, Sarah
